10 RUPTURE VALVE TESTING PROCEDURE

10.1  Care should be taken to avoid oil spillage when operating the  following procedure.

10.2  Raise the empty lift car up to approx. 300mm from the LOWER FLOOR.

10.3  Turn off the power to the lift controller and disconnect the battery back  up supply.

10.4  Close the powerpack shut off valve.

10.5  Disconnect the shut off valve from the powerpack but still leave it  connected to the hose.

10.6  With the open end of the shut off valve pointing toward a bucket,     quickly open the valve. The lift should stop almost immediately,     dropping approx. 25mm and remain stationary.

10.7  Close the shut off valve and reconnect to the powerpack.

10.8  Turn on the power and raise the lift to reset the rupture valve.

10.9  Reconnect the battery back up supply.

10.10 Should the rupture valve fail to operate correctly, it may require     adjustment. Before any attempt to adjust the valve is made, please read   10.11 on page 30.
